Hi, everyone! I hope that you have a fun weekend. Now that most of you are going back to work, it is time for me to update you on my weekly blood sugar readings.
Last week, I told you that the human adjusted my dosing because he was seeing blood sugar readings that were higher than we wanted. If they stayed at that level for an extended period of time, it would cause problems.
It takes a while when we test new dosing to learn what it does, and the human and I are still trying to get a good idea of what’s happening. But the initial results are encouraging. My blood sugar readings averaged 229 for the week, which was a little lower than last week.
The good news though, is that we saw some very encouraging readings. We had four readings in the 100-200 range that the human considers idea. The lowest was 144. We did have some concerning readings, like the high one of 352. But overall, the signs are good.
I am also much more active than I was when my readings were approaching a dangerous level. More activity is good for diabetic cats because it helps us burn off some blood sugar. I have started to hop on the balcony table again. I also have started to hop right onto the bed instead of jumping onto the nightstand first.
I do not know if this will continue. But I am hopeful it will. I think that the increased dosing is working to control my blood sugar levels and I am hopeful that we will get to that happy 100-200 level.
But if we do not, as long as I keep it below a dangerous one, I will be happy and so will the human. It will mean we can stay together for a long time to come!
