Happy new year, furiends. I hope you are all doing well today. I know that many of you went out and celebrated. If you did, I hope you do not feel bad this morning. The human tells me that you sometimes drink things that make you even more clumsy than you are and that the next day, you do not feel well. Hopefully that did not happen with you.
I also hope that all of your four legged family members did not get too scared last night. Many humans celebrate the new year with fireworks. And we four legged family members do not like the loud noises that come with the fireworks. I wish instead of having loud noises, you just enjoyed the sparkling lights. Wouldn’t that be more fun for everyone?
Now, on to my blood sugar readings, which are the last ones of 2017! For the week, my blood sugar readings averaged 219. That is up a little from the 212 we saw the week before and it’s up even more from the 199 we saw a couple of weeks ago. I do not like this trend. We are still well below the level where my blood sugar levels will cause complications. But I do not like the trend of them creeping up.
One thing that could have influenced my blood sugar levels is the drop to a very low level and then the spike higher. You see, when my glucose levels get too low, the human does not give me any insulin. Then they spike. That is not unusual. But what is unusual is that this time, they did not drop back down to normal levels quickly.
I do not know if this is just a one time situation or if it means something else. But the human will continue to work hard to maintain my blood sugar levels at a safe point. And I am grateful for that.
Enjoy your new year, furiends! I hope it is a very good one for you.
