Can a Diabetic Cat Become a Star Cat?

“Human, wake up.”

“What is it, Bagheera?  I already gave you noms and your insulin shot.  And I am very happy that you are lying down next to Marley’s cage and she is accepting this.  Now let me relax, please.”

Please help a diabetic cat show that he can be a star cat“No, human, you cannot relax.  You entered me in a contest.  You have to tell everyone about the contest and why you entered me in it first.  Then you have to get up and go to your yoga class and tell me, Jacey, and Marley about how flexible it makes you and how it improves your balance.  We think it is cute that you are trying to become as nimble and flexible as us felines, but it is amusing because you fall so far short.”

“Bagheera, you know I give you your insulin and test your blood sugar twice a day because you are a diabetic cat.  Don’t forget, if you don’t let me get enough sleep, my hand might not be as steady.”

“And my paw might have to swat at the unsteady hand, human.”

The human entered me in the Modern Cat Star Cat contest.  I am in competition with many famous felines, including my furiends Lucky, Aerostotle, Lazarus, and Maggie.  Sadly, only one of us can win.  But it is good for so many special needs cats to be in the contest.  My goal has always been to show humans that diabetic cats like me are as loving, fun, and playful as felines who do not suffer from this disease.  All we need a human who is willing to do the extra work associated with keeping us healthy. Please help this diabetic cat enjoy the sun puddle more

This goes for all special needs cats.  We just need a human who will spend the extra time with us.  Whether it’s the insulin shots and ear sticks a diabetic cat needs, or the surgery that Maggie needed, or the patience and healing that Lucky needed, all we need is just a little more attention.  And as all of us can tell you, we will reward the human who invests in that extra care with lots of love.

Can you help me in this contest by voting for me and sharing the word about this contest?  And be sure to vote for my furiends. Then we can educate humans about special needs cats!

Vote for Diabetic Cats in Need

Hello, everypawdy!  One of my favorite organizations is Diabetic Cats in Need.  They help humans who do not have the resources to care for diabetic cats, and they also help by fostering and adopting out cats who are suffering from diabetes.  One of my human furiends adopted a diabetic cat named Missy from them.  DCIN was able to move Missy all the way from the east coast to California and she is settling in well.

Diabetic Cats in Need had this handsome boy treated at Helping HandsNow they are entered into a contest to win $1,500 in surgical services from Helping Hands, which is a low cost veterinary surgical center in Richmond, Virginia.  Several cats from DCIN had their dental treatment done at Helping Hands, and the results were very good.  Since DCIN often turns to Helping Hands to treat their cats, having a credit there would go a long way to making sure diabetic cats like me get to stay in their homes or find new ones.

It is very easy to vote.  All you have to do is go to the Helping Hands website, scroll down to where the voting takes place, and click on the group you’d like to vote for.

I know I ask you to vote for me in the Modern Cat cover contest every day, and I’ve been doing this for a while now.  But unlike that contest, which runs for a few months, this contest only runs for about two weeks. Diabetic Cats in Need

DCIN is up against many other very worthy groups and they need your help.  Many of you kind humans have given money to help Michigan Cat Rescue take care of Bindy, or to help Lucky with his treatment, or to help Simba get his enclosure.

Here is a chance for you to help a charity that is very dear to this diabetic cat’s heart because of who they help.  And it won’t cost you any money.  But it may save a cat’s life!  Please vote and share this link, and vote every day between now and June 16.

Happy Caturday!

I hope you all are having a wonderful Caturday.  Here in San Diego, it was rainy starting on Thursday night, and then it rained again yesterday and early this morning.  My human tells me we need the rain, but Jacey and I did not go out on the balcony because of the rain.  I don’t know if diabetic cats need to be careful about getting wet, but it doesn’t matter.  Diabetic cat or not, I was not about to get all wet!Bagheera the Diabetic Cat and Jacey on Bed

So Jacey and I spent the past few days inside.  When the skies cleared up, we went outside for a bit but it’s a little chilly so we came back in.

And then we spent a lot of time doing this, hanging out on the bed.

If you humans are spending some time relaxing on what my human tells me you call a weekend, I’ve got some things for you to read.

First, can you help commute a death sentence for another diabetic cat, Missy?  Please read this and share her story.  If you cannot help, maybe someone else can.  She only has a few more days to live!

I also wrote about another cat the pawsome human with Coco-Nut the Big Fat Mitten Kitten is taking care of, Caviar.  She needs some help.  This is easier, because you only have to donate a little money instead of taking an older diabetic cat like Missy in.

Meet DottieThere is a sweet black and white cat named Dottie who needs help.  She was tortured by some evil humans, and she had the feet of her rear legs and one of her ears cut off.  But she was rescued by a nice human named Monica.  Monica is trying to help raise money for the Cat Protection Society of Eustis, Florida.  Read Dottie’s story and then vote for her!

And don’t forget about your own cat.  Diabetic cats like me especially need some toys to play with because it helps keeps us active.  Exercise helps with our diabetes, just like it does for humans.  But all cats love toys and you can get personalized bags of toys from Playtime Kitty Toys.

Have a great Caturday!
