Humans do Yoga with Cats

A Feline Helping with Yoga at The Cat Cafe

“Human, Jacey and I need to talk to you. It is good that you humans are trying to become more flexible but we are afraid that if you do it around felines like us, you will never be as good.  Then you will feel bad.”

“Why do you bring this up, Bagheera?”

“Jacey and I heard that at the place where you took us and where you send cats to their furever homes, you held a yoga class. You even called it Cats on Mats!”

“That’s because lots of humans like cats, Bagheera. And they like doing yoga. So we decided to combine the two at The Cat Cafe and let people do two things they enjoy — spending time with adoptable cats and doing yoga.”

“Human, why do you have to keep doing things to make sure you stay flexible? Do not think Bagheera and I are being insulting, but you humans are just not very flexible. Even an old feline is much more flexible than a young human!”

“That lack of flexibility is why we need to make sure we do things like yoga, Jacey. We lose it as we age, just like you cats do. And we start at a less flexible point so it is important to do things like yoga.”

“What did the felines at The Cat Cafe think about you humans doing yoga?”

“They liked it! They came over to say hello to many of the people doing yoga. It was quite cute. Maybe we will bring you and Bagheera to The Cat Cafe next time and you can comment on the people doing yoga.”

“I can not speak for Jacey, human but do not even think of bringing me there. You remember what happened the last time I was there. I did not like it at all and I let you know. Do I have to remind you by giving you another wound?”

“Bagheera, calm down. The human just wants us to have fun with other humans. Remember when I went to The Cat Cafe with you last time? I got to run around, climb up and down shelves, and got to annoy the human by jumping into the office! It was fun!”

“For you, Jacey. Not for me.”

“Relax, guys. We have enough kitties that you don’t have to come. But I think you would enjoy it, Jacey.”

“You can take Jacey, but not me, human!”

Felines Alter a Yoga Pose

“Human, I understand you are not happy that you cannot go to yoga.”

“That’s right, Bagheera.  Because of the Rock N’ Roll Marathon taking place today, many streets are closed.  I cannot get to the class that I want to get to without have to make a long detour, so I will skip it.”

“Well, human, Jacey, Marley and I have come up with an idea.”

“What is it, Bagheera?”

“Human, when it is time for you to do a cat pose, we will alter it.”

Cat Pose“How?”

“Human, what we will do is we will hop on your back when it is time for you to do cat pose.  And I will meow encouragement to you to hold the pose.”

“Jacey, that’s very kind, but you realize that having all three of you on my back would add quite a bit of weight.  And that would not necessarily be a good thing.”

“Are you saying we are fat, human?”

“No, Marley.  You are not fat.  Even Bagheera, who weighs twice as much as you, is not fat.  But adding nearly 40 pounds of weight to a pose would not be a good thing.”

“But human, adding in the weight would help you stretch.  We felines are just trying to help you.  And after all, if it’s called cat pose, how could adding cats into it not make it better?”This is one relaxed cat pose

“You do have a point, Bagheera.  But I think I will skip it.  Besides, you can always hop in my lap or on my stomach.  Even you, Marley.”

“Well, human, I do like to hop on the bed and roll around, but I’m afraid that Bagheera and Jacey will come and bother me when I do it.”

“Marley, you just have to get used to them.  And now I’m going to go and water the plants.  Do you three want to come work on your fur tans?”

Great News for Diabetic Cats In Need!

Hi, everyone.  I hope you are enjoying your day.  Today is Sunday, so my human just got back from yoga class and he told me he did several cat poses.  Jacey and I just looked at him and thought, silly human, you will never be as flexible as us so don’t even try. This is an easy pose for a diabetic cat like me but not for my humanFor example, this is an easy pose for all felines, even diabetic cats like me.  But for humans it is not so easy.  We are flattered that our human is trying to copy us, but we are also amused at how he tries so hard to gain flexibility but he’s still nowhere near what we felines can do!

But my human told me there was great news about Diabetic Cats In Need.  As you can imagine, an organization that helps diabetic cats is one that I give four paws and two thumbs up to.  They were entered in a contest to win $1,500 in credit at a low cost veterinary clinic in Richmond, Virginia.  DCIN was the winner of this contest put on by Helping Hands.  We were sure they won the contest last week, but it was made official.

Now isn’t that great news for your Sunday?  And how kind is Helping Hands to not only give DCIN $1,500 in credit, but to hold a drawing for another $1,000 credit and to give all of the organizations that participated in the contest $75?

Jacey and I give them Diabetic Cats In Needfour paws up, and I think you humans should give them all a big hand.  Their generosity will help many organizations take care of four legged creatures like me who need some help.

Speaking of DCIN, remember, they have many wonderful diabetic cats who need new homes.  It is a little more challenging to take care of one of these great felines, but if you are willing to open your heart and home to them, I am sure DCIN would love to hear from you.  What better way to celebrate adopt a shelter cat month than to take in one from DCIN?
